Women in Construction: A Challenge that Became Reality
Please join us for an interesting discussion about women in construction industry (challenges, obstacles and achievements), as I have personally experienced. I would like to share with you my own professional story starting from a small town in Greece till the one of the most iconic projects in France, the ‘Triangle’ tower in the heart of Paris. During this talk, I will have the chance to introduce you to the third highest building in Paris which comprises a symbol of diversity in the French capital with a significant environmental footprint.
Ioanna Stavridou was born is Serres, Greece, completed her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, and continued her postgraduate studies (Msc.) in Structural Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After having completed her studies, she moved to the United Arab of Emirates, starting working for international construction companies. During her eight-year stay in the U.A.E., she participated in wide-range and multi-complex projects in the region of Gulf (Fujairah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi) like the Grand Canal of Dubai, Warner Bros Theme Park, Waste Treatment Water plant, Dubai Uptown Tower, etc. In 2020, she moved to France, where she still lives and continues her career in the construction field. She is currently working for the construction of the Station of Saint Denis Pleyel, the biggest metro station in Paris, as part of the general development projects for hosting the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. She speaks fluently Greek, English and French. She is interested in painting, cooking, reading books, tennis, pilates and hiking. As a Citizen TALES Commons member she hopes that she can find people with whom she can share the same interests and values and to work on projects empowering people with disabilities.
