Nicholas Alexiou

Nicholas Alexiou is a Professor of Sociology and Founding Director of the Hellenic American Project (archives/oral history/immigration), which is also an official partner of Citizen TALES Commons. This partnership entails an in-depth study of Diasporic Poetry, as well as the study of Greek and Cypriot poetry in translation.

As a Citizen TALES Commons member, he is involved in the project "One Poem, A Thousand Voices: Comparative Approaches to Literary Translation", in which his poem "Transversely" from his most recent poetry collection Queens is translated in more than 25 languages and reveals many unknown aspects of multi-ethnic Queens.
